Chad Kukahiko

Chad KukahikoChad is the Creative Director of superfreako productions, a production company he co-founded with his brother Denny Kukahiko and long-time girlfriend Kendall Kanoa Hawley with the mission to create more and better opportunities for truly independent artists. Chad is a writer/director with over two decades experience as a performer. He’s acted in over fifty different plays, traveled the world as a performer in STOMP, played drums for Elektra Records-signed band ‘Kane’, written and produced an album of his own and written, produced and starred in a musical with recording artist Kyle Puccia.

Since it’s intial inception in 2007, superfreako productions with Chad at the helm, has produced over a dozen different short-format films; co-produced dozens of clips as well as a highly publicized live event for the Linian Society/Smyth Institute alternate reality game designed by Benji Schneider – the man behind the band Lord Huron; and dabbled in all manner of traditional and transmedia entertainment. superfreako productions past and future projects include lastdaysjournal.com: the world’s first social network for survivors of the zombie apocalypse, last days: the episodic series and board game upon which lastdaysjournal was based – currently in development, Ms Young: a murder mystery about friendship, obsession and betrayal – also in development, and at least a half dozen other projects in a variety of stages of production and development.

In February 2011, superfreako productions launched blogfreako, the on-going, real-life story of superfreako productions, chronicling the actual, everyday challenges of launching and managing an independent production company in Los Angeles today. Finally, this very site (We Make Movies) was built by Chad … and he hopes you enjoy it. =)
