What we’re going to do …

“Nothing has any meaning, except the meaning we give it.”

Where we want this to go

  1. Our own productions – We’re called WE MAKE MOVIES. And that’s all we really want to do. Whether it’s developing work in our “Something To Do On A Wednesday Til You Get Really Famous Night” writers workshop, or our “Shut Up And Make a Fucking Film Already” challenge, we’re all about developing new work and building a community of artists and filmmakers who will have a built in audience to display their work to. Long term, we want to use this as a platform to actively develop and distribute our own work created collectively and get it out directly to our audience.
  2. Screenings and events – We don’t want this to stay in the virtual world. In 2010, We did our first screening of shorts, put on our first theatrical production called “Busted On The Fourth of July”, Made our first short as a collective, and met a whole bunch of cool people along the way. In 2011, we want more of the same, with the only difference being we want to do more of it. And that means a lot more opportunities for our members to get together and show off their work.
  3. Crewing and casting resources- At the end of the day, people are trying to actually WORK in this business. It is our aim to help people find jobs worth having, and people with jobs to find people worth hiring. This will be a continually evolving process, but the point is that if you have a project, and are looking for people, we want to help you, and will do this for free. We know a lot of people that we can recommend and have worked with, whether it be actors, editors, wardrobe people, DP’s, Locations, whatever. We want this to be a go-to community of people-who-know-people that do good work. Save yourself the Craigslist and Mandy nonsense, and ask us first. However, if you are the type of Producer/employer looking for something for nothing (as in… no pay/lame project/all about you). Don’t bother. We will not help you, will not ask our friends to help you, don’t want to talk to you, and don’t want to know you. Point is that if you are a regular at our workshops or we can vouch for you in some way, we will absolutely go out of our way to make sure that you find the right people for your project, and do everything we can to make sure that your project comes out the way it’s meant to, with as small a cost as possible. We’re not going to make it for you, but we’ll help you get it made any way we can.
  4. You tell us – We make this up as we go, and do whatever the hell it is we feel like doing. If you have an idea, tell us. If we like it, we’ll do our best to make it happen.
